This art deco rose screen necklace is based on the motif found in an Asian folding screen. From a Chinese vase created in bombe teal glass, an arrangement of flowers features vintage iridescent glass roses of coral, fuchsia and purple, seed pearls and olivine lacquer and stone leaves. It is framed in a glorious Tang Dynasty style border illuminated in fuchsia, padparadscha and indicolite Swarovski crystal. The neck chain alternates vintage amethyst glass melon beads which echo the vase and double sided art deco links set with the glass roses.
18" L + 4" extender + 3.25" pendant

The Inspiration: This design is based on Chinoiserie, the decorative style of the 1920s and 1930s, an era devoted to interpreting and adopting Oriental design in fashion and the decorative arts. A very popular home furnishing, especially for a romantic boudoir was the coromandel folding screen of black lacquer incised with flowers and birds.åÊ
