In the 1940s, larger, expressive costume jewels became indispensable accessories to fashion. Throughout autumn, department store jewelry counters swelled with novelty pieces. Lavish charm bracelets and earrings were the rage! Designers created them with metal stampings, glass and bakelite. Even natural nuts and pods were clustered on bold chain to make a fashion statement.
